Timeline
Go on, you know you want to
Think of the last time you saw a baby in a pushchair who caught your eye, and you smiled - and the baby smiled back! Now think about smiling at adults you pass in the street: how does the thought make you feel? They'll think you're crazy? Just try it; you'll get some odd looks, yet, on the whole, people will smile back. You may've have made their day - they'll certainly make yours! :-))Thank you
Where do I start?? It costs nothing to say Thank you, yet it seems to be going out of fashion. And, with any act of giving, there's always a benefit to the giver too. I try and go further: if a particular product or assistant in a shop has worked very well, I'll write to praise those responsible. It's too easy to moan about things: show those around you that you appreciate themCooking - my therapy!
I feel very lucky that I was shown how to bake by my mum, then went on to do cookery (O-level) at school. Now, I love to cook all sorts of meals, dishes and cakes, and if I'm feeling a bit low, I know cooking will ease my mind and bring calm and clarity into my life again. If you're daunted at the prospect of cooking, start by using a step-by-step children's cook book (one that doesn't just invite you to make sweet sticky things!), and do it with a friend who also wants to learn. Or ask a friend who already cooks to show you / help you.Hugging someone
We all need physical warmth at certain times; be sensitive to the huggee's needs though - hugs aren't always welcome! If you want to give a hug (and believ it would be welcome) make it a biggun! With your arms ALL the way round! Gently patting or stroking the huggee's back can be very soothing. Grasp opportunities to hug whenever appropriate - never let a chance go by. Whatever you do though, the hug mustn't be interpreted as a sexual gesture.
