30 on Campus Drive
On the way to school in the morning, my boyfriend always drives at exactly 30mph...because that's the speed limit. Everyone speeds on that road, but there are reasons it's 30. It's a twisty-turned road. The college is also a wildlife reserve! AND some students (mostly the firefighter trainees) park in the far lot and then walk to main campus. I'd hate to see any students or animals get hurt. :( Unfortunately, driving 30 brings on a lot of tail-gating, and sometimes honking and middle fingers. But oh well, I rather like being safe and not being a JERK. :) Their actions only amuse me anyway.Really?
I've always turned the tap off! My whole life! I was shocked the first time I heard that people leave the water running the whole time. Wow...Band?
I played flute in my middle school and high school bands--and I took lessons for a year. When I was in elementary school, I took piano lessons, but not long enough to learn very much... In high school, though, I learned to play the marimba (like a xylophone, same keys as the piano), so I felt like I finally finished the piano thing. :)Sleepover!!!
I love the typical girly sleepover during which we braid each others' hair and make friendship bracelets. :) I'm still wearing a bracelet and anklet from the summer. One of my friends has about ten on each wrist! I like to make bracelets with that thin string that usually comes in a kit (but you can buy it separate in a craft store/section). I really want to make a hemp bracelet with beads, though! Another new thing to do...Yay!
Hugs really do make you feel happier. :) At some middle schools, they discourage hugging...? O_o I think that's really sad. I mean, I guess I can see that SOME people cause problems, but a majority of the kids just want to hug their friends. Announcing a no-hugging policy at school will just encourage students to hug it out even more. ;) REBEL! So, more power to them.People on the street
I used to be really shy, and I'd just keep my head down and keep walking wherever I was going. Now I'm a little more confident, and I smile if someone smiles at me or if we make eye contact. Even if they don't seem to look up, I'll smile! I especially love smiling at elderly people. Reminds me of my grandma (lives in a different state).Assigned reading
Being a student, I get a lot of assigned reading... Recently we were asked to read The Giver by Lois Lowry. In our spare hour, a couple of my classmates and myself went off to the library to sit in comfy chairs and read. We'd speak up every now and then and have a little laugh about "comfort objects" and then ponder all the other questions of the story. Loved it. Should do this more often. P:Friends and family!
When my sister and I were very young, our mother taught us how to knit. :) I still knit only scarves, though. Hahaha, well, I know how to make dishcloths now (my mom always gives them as gifts). In high school, I taught a friend of mine how to knit. We'd spend a lot of lunch time together. It was really fun! :DMy favorite...
I heard this on a comedy show a while ago, and I've been using it every since:So I have this friend who doesn't have any toes. I was over at his house once, and he offered me a glass of milk. I said, "Oh, no thanks, I'm LACKTOES intolerant."
Hahahaha lactose and lack-toes?! I stood up and told my class once, and they all groaned. But they laughed after they groaned, so I think it's a success, even if the real comedy was that it was way too cheesy. :)
Well, sometimes...
I'm a teenager, and we RARELY do this in my household. It's just my parents, my sister, and myself. I wish we could have a clear kitchen table (clear of bills, homework, etc.) and turn off the TV and all sit down and have a nice dinner! If I want to have my boyfriend over for dinner, it's such a big ordeal to get everyone to eat the same thing at the same time... His family always has sit-down dinner, so I really enjoy going over to his house. It makes me happy, but it also makes me feel like I'm drifting away from my own family. More meals with the family would be nice, but I seem to be the only one who longs for that!
