Timeline
Shopping locally is SO much more fun!
Come on, we all dread that weekly supermarket trip - but breaking it up by visiting lots of smaller shops is far more fun. Ok we still visit the supermarket, but our meat comes from a butcher now (there is no greengrocer we can use sadly), and I use the local village shop and post office for loads of things, if I can get it in a small independent shop I'd much rather. You get a conversation, they are always helpful, and they can often get in things that you can't find on the shelf, or advise you where else might sell it. You just don't get that in a supermarket. We did try a veggie box thing once but as someone who likes to plan meals for the week to reduce food waste, I found that not knowing what veggies were coming was more of a hindrance than a help. I am sure one day I will find the solution.Standby Saver
We got a free Standby Saver in the summer from British Gas which has all our TV equipment plugged into it. I just have to press the "off" button on the remote and it switches everything off so it's not on standby. SO easy to set up and do, everyone should have one. In fact I might just buy one for my Dad.
