Serious one, this. When John Kennedy bumped into a janitor at NASA and asked him what he did, the man replied 'helping to put a man on the moon'. That's a genuinely inspiring story. And it raises the question: how many of us really understand the vision behind what we do in our working lives? Incidentally, when the janitor asked Kennedy what HE was doing there, Kennedy apologised and admitted he'd walked into the ladies toilet by mistake.

    Do something kind for others


    My co-workers & I had a silent auction at work with our unwanted household items. We raised enough money to give 2 4th grade classes $10. each and they had to do something nice for someone and write about how it made that person feel and how it made them feel. One boy gave his to the local pharmacy to help pay for someone meds, some others teamed up and bought diapers for a Pregnacy Counciling center, others bought food for family members in need, a little girl gave hers to her greeving grandpa to help pay for his wifes headstone, flowers and balloons to cheer a dying aunt, and games were bought for an uncle to use to pass the time at his chemo treatments was some of the other ideas they came up with. We were so proud of these children -they are our future- we cant wait to do it again next year. Joann     07 June 2009, 23:13

    what a fabulous website


    I love this web page it really makes you realize what you need to do to help the environment and I love the tracker it makes more conscientious of what I am doing and it makes me feel good about myself knowing I'm at least trying to participate in the welfare of our environment     03 August 2008, 21:09

    Fitting into the bigger picture


    I found my 'change the world for a fiver' book this morning, and I've put the free poster up in my room to remind me of the actions we can all do to make the world a bit better. I also threw the book at my boyfriend (yes, literally!) and am trying to get him singed up to the website and track their own actions. It just reminded me of what we can all do and how we all fit into the bigger picture - if the 'picture' is the planet, that is.

    Small action


    My year 8 have been given an additional learning opportunity where they are to look at the actions and then act upon them. Then they have to review these changes and say if they are going to continue with them or not! Having to tell me why! and ive linked it to the key stage 3 levels - citizenship.
