• There are currently about 76 million mobile phones in use in the UK compared with around 25 million in 2000 and 4.5 million in 1995.
• A survey by easymobile.com found that the habit people find most annoying with mobile phone use is speaking too loudly in public.
• A study comparing mobile phone use in London, Madrid and Paris found that Londoners and Parisians tend to screen their calls in public, while people in Madrid tend to answer calls even if they are an interruption. In all three places, the younger the mobile phone user, the less concern there was for being overheard in public. 
• In October 2009, Egypt's official telecoms regulatory body launched code of ethics for the use of mobile phones, including using a non-annoying ring tone.
