Now that you've told us you've done it, want to tell us a little about who you did it with, how you did it or what you did?
Now that you've told us your class has done it, want to tell us a little about who you did it with, how you did it or what you did?
Action updated!
Everyone that does this action gets to know 5 new people.
Most of us don't know our neighbours. We know what they look like. What car they drive. But shouldn't we have their phone number, and shouldn't they have ours?
Introduce yourself to five 'strangers' in your street (take a cup of sugar if it helps). You won't regret it when you're locked out in the rain, or you make a granny beam when you've picked up a paper for her.

The Big Lunch is a party in your street. On 19th July, they asked the people of Britain to stop what they were doing and sit down to lunch together.

We know our neighbors.
I have given my number to 3 of our 4 neighbors in the building, and it is so nice to be friendly with all of them. We are always leaving baked goods on their doorsteps for fun, and they leave us goodies as well! I will have to go and get to know the mast neighbor, and go say hello to the family next door, they always seem so nice. 25 January 2010, 18:45Easy
That was an easy one, we have so many really nice neighbours, so we interchanged numbers first thing. 23 October 2009, 16:04I picked pears with my neighbours
So I hadn't realised but our street is lined with 7 massive pear trees. A few years ago the council was going to cut them down because pears were falling on cars and heads. Some residents campaigned to save the pear trees. The pear trees were saved! The agreement being that the council comes once a year to help pick the trees and local residents get to keep the fruit. So ... so far I've made banana and pear cake, pear chutney and stewed pears ... and have gotten to know my neighbours!
Trim your hedge!
I'd lost touch with our neighbours, who live above us, and it was getting pretty awkward having not spoken for the best part of a year (no particular reason, just hadn't bothered). Decided to spend a bit of time in the front garden for a change, tidying up the hedges. One of the neighbours came back from shopping and it forced us to have a chat, which lead to us having a meal - all problems solved!
I also trimmed the hedge in the back, and now the other neighbours and I chat over the fence. In one week, we've met more people in our street than in two years.
Not a great action, but it's certainly made life less stressful and we don't have to worry about awkward moments passing in the hallway.
