My desk lamps' bulbs are always energy-saving. They are really effective. We also changed some bulbs in the kitchen and bath room. Quite good. When turning on, at first it seems that they are not very bright but a little later they light up well.I'm an energy saver!
Every single light bulb in the house: Energy saving....xEnergy light bulbs
Almost all the light bulbs in the house have been transferred over to energy efficiant light bulbs. Got my sis hooked, too. 24 October 2010, 10:16light glorious light!!!
i have one in my bedroom and also in the: living room, conservatory, dining room and study! 23 September 2010, 18:11energy saving bulbs.
My family try to save a lot of energy, we live in a small old cottage and don't have a TV or central heating. We also have 7 energy saving bulbs in use at the moment. 22 September 2010, 17:42Fit at least one energy-saving light bulb
Our house has energy saving light bulbs in 6 out of 8 rooms. The other two use down lighters but aren't on very often. 19 September 2010, 06:45I did it
I changed all the lights in my house and at my parents house. You can't really tell the difference and the planer is such a cooler place now 02 September 2010, 20:15
They can be cheap
I think there's a misconception that energy saving light bulbs are really expensive, but recently I saw three for £1 at Spar, and I bought a pack of three small ones suitable for lamps in Poundland. This was a great purchase because they'll last for ages! :) 29 August 2010, 00:30influence others
I even convinced my mom to do the same, even though she's a fan of incandescent bulbs. 11 August 2010, 14:02did it!

Bayonet bulb mountain... wake up energy companies!
I went to my wifes grandmother's the other day and went to change a bulb for her. She said she had some energy saving bulbs in her draw that had been sent by her energy company - FREE! Great... until I tried to fit one and found that they were all for 'Bayonet' fittings only.Practically all of her light fittings are now the screw in type and so she has over 10 bulbs sat in a draw that she is unable to use.
If you look at most fixtures that are for sale in stores like Ikea, B&Q, Homebase etc. you'll see that practically all now have screw in bulb attachments and not the old Bayonet type.
So all I can say is 'wake up energy companies' and start sending out the screw in type bulbs and help to stop wasting peoples time, money and energy. 15 March 2010, 13:30

I don't like the fact that as yet the disposal of these items is still a problem and that many older ones are simply being stock piled until recycling facilities exist. Having said that though they do use less energy over a period so I'm all in favour. We have them all over the house and work 13 March 2010, 14:18
In my home
In my home every bulb is saving-energy (except the ones in the bathroom I think). 11 March 2010, 10:07Energy saver

we have done this to all our bulbs in home 19 February 2010, 10:32Me and my mom
I use this new bulbs and my mom also use these 19 February 2010, 05:57NOT SAVING
We had a workshop about electricity at our uni, and the technician told us that energy saving light bulbs are only really starting to save you energy after being on for more than 4 hours. The thing is that energy saving lightbulbs need to 'heat up' after you turn them on, and this process draws out so much energy that they only start to be efficient after being on for at least 4 hours. Therefore if you have energy saving light bulbs, and you keep turning off your lights every time you leave the room, you are actually using up much more energy than with regular lightbulbs. This is one of the reasons why huge office buildings often leave all the lights on during the night. Keeping them on running costs them less than having to pay for all the energy that gets drawn to heat up the lightbulbs after they are turned on. 19 February 2010, 03:17save energy
all my light bulb are energy-saving 10 February 2010, 14:43I did it again
Just wanted to make another small tick about having done this again. ;) 10 February 2010, 14:03using low energy bulbs
I have tried low energy bulbs in both ceiling fitmets and table lamps. To me, low energy bulbs really do not give out enough light so that I can work beneath them as I do with ordinary bulbs. The only way I can use them is in my bedside lamps and table lamps. I simply cannot sew, knit, crochet, do woodwork etc under a low energy lamp. They actually are not good enough and I would never bwillingly uy any as they are too expensive, but will use the ones that have been given to me by the utilities companies. 10 February 2010, 10:40Lots of bulbs
I made my mum and dad change all the bulbs in the house to energy saving bulbs, who then told my gran to do! 09 February 2010, 14:24More than one bulb!
I think at this point I've added four and have about that many more to do. 07 February 2010, 15:17100 % energy saving Light bulbs
All our light bulbs are energy saving. The most difficult ones to find are IP44 for showers. In the garden we have LEDs lights on walking path : they provide enough light to move around but don't disturb the night life of the garden (full moon light). We have Xten commands to switch on and off easily and our outside LED lights are monitored by our home server which evaluate everyday the sunset hour. 04 February 2010, 13:48light bulb
it saves money and helps the enviroment 03 February 2010, 10:49Lightbulbs
Every time one of my bulbs run out, I am replacing them with nice enegry saving ones. So far 3 X energy saving bulbs are in my home. 02 February 2010, 12:35The whole house 4 years and going.
4 years ago my wife and I switched to CFL's and have not looked back. I would like to point out however, that they only last about three years. Three years is still long enough for us to have seen a huge return on our investment. Switching all the lights seems to have saved us around $10 a month. That's $360 over the life of the bulbs. the switch only cost $30 because we were able to take advantage of government rebates. Doing this put $330 back in our pockets and made our carbon footprint a little smaller. I would advise anyone, no matter how small or large your home to switch as many bulbs as you can. You'll save money and you'll have a smaller carbon footprint. 31 January 2010, 14:12Every bulb
Every light in our house is an Energy Saving bulb. We got them for free through a govenment initiative. Thank you very much !!!! 26 January 2010, 10:07More than one...
We put CFL bulbs in every lamp in the house! 21 January 2010, 23:54I DID IT
we got some energy savin light bulbs for fre. so i told my parents about this and fitted them. yay go mee lol... 19 January 2010, 14:45Energy SAving Light Bulbs
I find that the energy saving light bulbs drove me nuts at first, because they are dim to begin with before reaching full brightness. However, over time I found that I have gotten used to this so I am glad we made the change. 10 January 2010, 12:51Bought these at Costco
I bought a big pack of energy saving light bulbs at Costco over a year ago and replaced all of my light bulbs. Since I replaced them, I haven't had to change a single light bulb. :) 10 January 2010, 04:21shed a light
been working on this one for a couple of years. Most of the lights in the house are now low energy bulbs which have got better recently. I have to sort out the bathroom yet as they are halogen. It may mean new fittings in there. Still thinking about this one. 08 January 2010, 00:15done
got loads spare have only 3 non energy saving light bulbs as they are screw in ones 30 December 2009, 14:28GU10 Bulb
My 1 bedroom flat has 14 halogen lights in total (blimey) and unfortunately the majority of them (9) are on dimmer switches which means I currently can't use energy saving GU10's in these just yet. Planning on removing the dimmer switches and once the bulbs go out I will be replacing them one by one with new energy saving GU10 ones. 22 December 2009, 18:06Completely done
All my house is equipped with those 11 December 2009, 07:45one more for the environment
I convinced my sister to put CFL's in her house, too. Yay me! 04 December 2009, 21:16I did it!
I replaced every bulb in my house and my mom's house with CFLs. 04 December 2009, 21:14only two left...
There are only two more "normal" bulbs in our household - above the bathroom mirror. All others were changed! 11 watt is really enough to make the room bright! 30 November 2009, 12:24I have one Gavriel B
All the bedrooms in my house and the study has an energy saving light bulb. 18 November 2009, 19:26i did it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as I know, my family has always used energy saving light bulb. I have even got an energy saving light bulb for my bedside lamp 15 November 2009, 16:15Bedroom bulb
I hardly spend any time in my bedroom, and I realised every time I popped in and turned on the light it was wasting energy. So I swapped the bulb for an energy saving one. It was so quick and easy, and now I'm helping the environment too! 30 October 2009, 16:01love the idea
I love doing anything to save the world and im only 16 years old.=) My family quite the opposite, but after some begging and persuading, I got my dad to change every light bulb in the house for these energy saving ones, and we've been using them ever since. It really made me happy to know i am helping the Earth. 25 October 2009, 22:19fitting energy saver bulb
i have fitted energy savers all around my hous 19 October 2009, 08:11Saving energy
All of us every day switch on thousands of lights and we leave them on for so long. We must think about what we're doing. So make a change and switch off as many lights as you can. Last year millions of people did Earth hour. Earth hour is switching off as many electrical things as we could. And it made an amazing change to our enviroment. I care about the world, do you? 18 October 2009, 10:56Lighting
We live in a modern house with kind of spot lights in the ceiling, each light switch has two bulbs attach to it so we have replaced all our bulbs with energy efficient ones and we use a single lamp in the evening. We also use candle light at weekends (romantic and energy efficient!!!!)16 October 2009, 05:48
The Trick with Energy Saving Lightbulbs
The thing about energy saving light bulbs is that they take on average at least 20 minutes before they start saving electricity. So these bulbs are best for landing lights, or garden lights, or any other light that you leave on for a long period of time. If you fit it to a light that you are switching on and off a lot, you are not saving any electricity or money at all, and possibly using more! Please thank Diana the light lady for this helpful piece of information. 08 September 2009, 17:48
how about all your bulbs...
each time you need a new bulb - get an energy saver. if you are using the bulb somewhere where you only need it for a short while each time - make sure you ask for the bulb that lights up pretty quickly (most modern do). if you like to use a dimmer, ask for the one that can be used with a dimmer switch. Whatever energy saving bulb you get - do not look at the price too closely - it is well worth it. Both for you and for this world of ours. :-) 27 August 2008, 14:06
Energy Saving Light Bulbs
i dont know if anyone else has, but i recieved some free energy saving light bulbs today from british gas! i think this is a fab idea. i use them anyway but its great that for once an energy supplier is encouraging people to use them :) 14 May 2008, 11:51

remember to recycle your CF lightlglobes
All except halogens and my housemate's room are energy saving bulbs. Trying to get her to change and remember to switch off.
Problem with compact fluoro's is the end of life disposal (magnesium content) so am setting up a recycling bin for people to bring them in at work to recycle work globes and employees globes.

Lightbulbs
I've fitted a couple and have 3 more in the cupboard, problem is a)it can be difficult finding bulbs that go with your light fittings and b)they take agesa to warm up and when they do they don't really give enough light. Nice idea but the technology needs improving. 05 January 2008, 13:24
